National Tree Day on Sunday July 27, Planet Ark is encouraging all Australians to get growing! By registering a Tree Day site, you now have the opportunity to win some great prizes including cash grants, and even a trip to California!
A full list of National Tree Day competitions, entry and prize details can be viewed at treeday.planetark.org/competitions Site coordinators can also use the National Tree Day website to access resources that will help you promote and publicise your National Tree Day site. Go to treeday.planetark.org/promotion and visit the media centre to download an adaptable media release, a fact sheet, plus high resolution images of National Tree Day's celebrity ambassadors including Australian of the Year - Lee Kernaghan. Send the press release and a photo out to your local newspapers and radio stations to let them know what you've got planned for National Tree Day. Alternatively you can download posters and brochures to help with your site promotion. If you're visiting a Hoyts cinema, watching TV or listening to the radio throughout June and July you'll also notice that Planet Ark's Community Service Announcements are airing around the country. These special TV, cinema and radio ads feature National Tree Day ambassadors Jamie Durie, Shelley Craft (from Domestic Blitz and Australia's Funniest Home Videos), and Ranger Stacey (Totally Wild presenter and regular on Rove Live), and are designed to recruit more than 300 000 volunteers to get growing at tree-planting sites around Australia for National Tree Day 2008.
