Julia Roberts said "sounds corny, but it's true: It's our absolute responsibility to take care of our children so that we don't just throw up our hands and say, 'Wow, we pretty much f---ed this up. Good luck to ya in 50 years. She went on to say "Because we did create the problem little by little and that's the way we're gonna have to fix it, little by little, the best we can."

After becoming a spokeswoman for Earth Biofuels, a Texas based bio-diesel and alternative fuels company, she has advocated the need for more eco-friendly transport. As a parent, school busses are particularly important. "I just feel that any parent who's informed cannot put their kid on a school bus without saying to their school district or their congressman, "Hey, man, you gotta clean this up for us!' Because it's too easy not to fix".

Earth Biofuels said that Roberts will work with the company on a campaign to encourage the use of biodiesel in school buses nationwide.

Morgan Freeman and Willie Nelson also sit on the board of directors of Earth Biofuels and promote the use of renewable fuels.

Dominic Monaghan of The Lord of the Rings and LOST fame, is an earth lover and environmentalist. Does it more quieter then some other celebs.

Woody Harrelson has well and truly earnt his green stripes as has been living a greener than green life long before it was ever eco-chic.

Ed Begley Jnr has earnt his green stripes as he was green way before it became the popular thing to do. He took a lot of  hits back in the day driving his electric car around. He stood out as the only vocal environmentalist in Hollywood for many, many years before others did so.

Darryl Hannah arrested in June 2006 for staging a 23-day tree sit-in during a bid to preserve an urban community garden in Los Angeles, travelled across America in 2005 in a biofuel car,  her home is entirely off-grid.

Scarlett Johanssen shows genuine concern and has used her fame to act as mouthpiece for a number of ethical causes she feels passionate about, particularly women's rights. She also takes a hard line on those celebs who do boost their profiles with green claims, saying "You’re always going to have people who hop on the bandwagon when something is hip.

The important thing to remember is that women and children in Africa need help and that has nothing to do with my career.”

Robert Redford is a celebrity pioneer when it comes to living the green life. His efforts are alive and well today, but he got started making the world a more eco-friendly place even before going green was 'the thing to do.'

The 'Sundance kid' took a keen interest at an early age, working at Yosemite National Park as a teenager following his bout with polio. His involvement with the Yosemite led him to produce and narrate Yosemite: The Fate of Heaven, an award-winning documentary about the national park and the environment in the late 1980s.

But Robert had many other projects he worked on before regaining his focus on Yosemite. In 1969 he purchased Utah land to create Sundance Village and went on to co-found the Sundance Institute in 1981.

Ted Danson  founded a credible environmental organization American Oceans Campaign, while Harrelson is a major Hollywood actor who regularly puts himself on the line in direct action.

Alexandra Paul has been driving eV1's and RAV4's since probably 1990 and has been such an active proponent of comprehensive environmental causes.

Sting founder in 1989 of Rainforest Foundation to protect rainforests and their indigenous peoples.

Bono reportedly became interested in social causes after seeing an Amnesty International benefit show, The Secret Policeman’s Ball. In the mid ’80s he joined fellow philanthropic musician Sting on Amnesty’s Conspiracy of Hope U.S. tour. U2 also performed for projects and events such as Band Aid and Live Aid, and Bono later teamed up with organizer Bob Geldof for Live 8.

Pierce Brosnan focuses on marine mammal and wetland protection, headlined Natural Resources Defence Council campaign against effects of Navy sonar on whales.

Brosnan, together with his wife Keely Shaye, has been drawn into a passionate leadership role in environmental issues. In 1997, Green Cross International President Mikhail Gorbachev presented Pierce with an Environmental Leadership Award, citing him as "a truly committed leader whose bold actions and clever voice have been instrumental in marine mammal protection, as well as that of fragile ecosystems." Additionally, they are devoted to women's healthcare and global children's issues.

Edward Norton launched the BP Solar Neighbours Program in 2003 which matches each celebrity purchase of a solar energy home system with a solar installation in a low-income family home in Los Angeles.

Jamie Oliver celebrity chef, plans to power his Cornwall, England, restaurant by wind turbines. In the UK over the last year many schools are trying to use organic suppliers in an attempt to clean up their image after Jaime Oliver lambasted them.

A top vote went to George Clooney. Not too sure if that was for being green, or for the eye candy award. However, the ladies’ man is also known for his determined humanitarian efforts and his relationship with another lady … Mother Earth.
