Home-made lip gloss recipes, with added color from organic fresh juiced beetroot.
An apricot-orange lipgloss + mandarin lip balm + a yummy chocolate lip balm and repair butter recipe that are great for gift giving.
A soothing cold sore lip balm, that soothes, protects and repairs lips and sensitive areas.
Beetroot Lip Gloss
1/4 cup beeswax 1/4 cup castor oil 2 tablespoons organic coconut oil Organic Freshly juiced beetroot juice Melt beeswax in top of double boiler. Remove from heat and add oils. Add as much beetroot juice as desired for colour. Store in jar. Transfer a small portion to a purse sized container for use when away from home. Any favourite essential oil may be added for fragrance.

Apricot-Orange Lip Gloss
1 teaspoon beeswax 1 teaspoon apricot kernel oil 1 teaspoon calendula oil 3-4 drops of essential oil of orange Organic freshly juiced beetroot Melt beeswax in top of double boiler. Add apricot kernel and calendula oils, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add beetroot juice, for colour. When partially cooled, add oil of orange. Store in jar. Transfer a small portion to a purse sized container for use when away from home.
Organic Chocolate Lip Balm
1 teaspoon beeswax 2 teaspoons organic prime-pressed cocoa butter + 2 tablespoons organic cocoa powder 3 teaspoons organic oil of choice - organic coconut or olive oil or rice bran oil /jojoba 5-10 drops peppermint essential oil Vitamin E capsule 400iu Organic vanilla powder
Slowly melt ingredients in a double boiler or in 30-second spurts in microwave. Cool slightly and add vitamin E capsule (oil only) and fill steralized containers. You may like to adjust the ratio of ingredients to suit your liking. Keep in 'fridge. Keeps almost indefinitely! Makes approx. 5 lip gloss jars.
Mandarin Lip Balm 1 tsp beeswax 3oz cocoa butter 1 tsp coconut oil 5 drops St.Johns wort tincture 5 drops calendula tincture 10 drops mandarin essential oil Melt the beeswax, cocoa butter and coconut oil in a Bain Marie or a bouble boiler or a steamer with ingredients inside a jug. add the rest of the ingredients, stir well.
Pour lip balms into individual containers with lids and refrigerate. You may affix your own personalized label to each container after the balm has completely set. Long shelf life! Cold Sore Lip Balm 25g beeswax 30ml almond oil 10 drops jojoba oil 5 drops carrot oil contents of 1 vitamin E capsule 5 drops lavender essential oil 5 drops chamomile essential oil Melt the beeswax and almond oil in a Bain Marie or as above. Remove from heat and slowly add the jojoba oil. carrot oil and vit E, stiring all the time.Add the essential oils and store in a clean jar. |
