Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils to heal and revitalize the body and mind. These essential oils are distilled or cold-pressed from plants and flowers. Essential oils represent what nature prizes most: pure energy and vital force which enlivens the plant. These precious essential oils heal and enliven body, mind and spirit by enchanting your senses!

Aromatherapy is very popular as a holistic beauty treatment for all the family because it gives glowing skin and beautiful hair. There are some outstanding benefits of aromatherapy. Nowadays many skin care and hair care products are available in the market place which have essential oils and they have many benefits but should be used according to skin types. Using aromatherapy for skin and hair care enhances your beauty to great levels.

 

lavender_and_oil_338px.jpgAromatherapy comprises largely of essential oils which have their different therapeutic benefits. Thus according to your skin type and hair type match up the desired essential oil. For individual grooming you can use suitable mixtures of essential oils.

 

 For normal skin types you can use lavender, rose or chamomile essential oils. For sensitive or dry skin you can use chamomile oil, which is very beneficial for dry skin. Also chamomile is beneficial for skin predisposed to eczema or acne.

Acne is a condition that occurs in teenage children and adults. We are always anxious to get rid of acne and with the help of aromatherapy you can treat your acne. Tea tree and cajuput oils are very beneficial in the treatment of mild acne. Vital oils like grape seed and high-quality carrier oil mixture also provide an effective treatment of acne. To produce a toner it is recommended to blend some drops with rose water.

Massage is perhaps the most popular way to use essential oils. It combines the healing art of aromatherapy with the healing art of touch. Self-massage is just as effective as being massaged by another person, and lack of a partner is no excuse for not trying these relaxing recipes. Always use essential oils diluted in a carrier oil. Never place them directly onto the skin. As a general rule, do not exceed ten drops of total essential oils per 20 ml mixture, and try to keep it around five for maximum effectiveness. Except for oils to add to the entire 100 ml bottle of  Basic Massage Oil.

Basic Massage Oil

80 ml coconut oil or macadamia oil 2 teaspoons sweet almond oil 2 teaspoons avocado oil 1000 IU vitamin E d'alpha tocopherol

Mix ingredients together in a 100 ml bottle (prick the vitamin capsules and squeeze out the contents). Shake well to mix.

Face and Neck Massage

3 drops violet oil  2 drops rose oil: in 20 ml of carrier oil.

Add 1000 IU vitamin E d'alpha tocopherol for extra richness.

Aching Bodies

This is a good blend for an after - sport massage when you ache all over.

20 drops lavender oil 10 drops rosemary oil 10 drops clary sage oil 5 drops peppermint oil 5 drops cypress oil.

Add the essential oils to an entire bottle of basic massage oil. Shake well to mix.

Backache Massage

2 drops eucalyptus oil  2 drops lavender oil  1 drop lemon oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.  Focus on areas of tension with fingertips.

Aching Minds

For when you are tired from too much thinking and worrying.

10 drops lavender oil 20 drops chamomile oil 10 drops geraniun oil 5 drops cedarwood oil 5 drops peppermint oil.

Add the essential oils to an entire bottle of Basic Massage Oil. Shake well to mix.

Sleep Aid

Use this blend for a gentle massage that will relieve stress and ensure a good night's sleep.

10 drops chamomile oil 20 drops lavender oil 10 drops marjoram oil 10 drops sandalwood oil.

Add the essential oils to an entire bottle of Basic Massge Oil. Shake well to mix.

Calming Back Massage

 4 drops ylang ylang oil 3 drops jasmine oil  2 drops geranium oil: in 20 ml of carrier oil.

Face and Neck Massage

2 drops galbanum oil  3 drops neroli oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Hand Massage

5 drops lime oil * 5 drops thyme oil * 5 drops eucalyptus oil * 5 drops cajeput oil: in 4 tablespoons carrier oil.

Leg Massage

2 drops cypress oil * 2 drops lime oil * 1 drops lemon oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Massage on calves, using gentle pressure on any varicose veins.

Mature Skin Massage

2 drops myrrh oil  2 drops lavender oil  2 drops neroli oil: in 20 ml wheatgerm oil.

Pain-Relieving Massage

3 drops pine oil 3 drops eucalyptus oil  3 drops frankincense oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Especially effective on sore joints.

Relaxing Full-Body Massage

3 drops neroli oil 2 drops jasmine oil: in 20 ml of carrier oil.

Relaxing Massage

2 drops geranium oil  2 drops rose oil 2 drops lavender oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Can be used effectively as a face and scalp massage. Relieves anxiety.

Sensual Body Massage

2 drops patchouli oil  3 drops geranium oil  3 drops rose oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Stimulating Body Rub

1 drop peppermint oil  1 drop myrrh oil  2 drops lavender oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

This is an excellent winter rub.

Summer Stimulating Massage

2 drops lemongrass oil  3 drops orange oil 1 drop rosemary oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Good for back and shoulder massages.

Uplifting Massage

2 drops bergamot oil  2 drops orange oil  2 drops petitgrain oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Good early-morning body rub.

 Varicose Vein Massage

2 drops lime oil  2 drops cedarwood oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Rub lightly, using fingertips only.

Wrinkled or Puffy Face Massage

2 drops rose oil  1 drop violet oil  1 drops geranium oil: in 20 ml carrier oil.

Rub lightly on face, using fingertips only.

Precautions for Using Essential Oils:

Oils which are not suitable for home use include, but are not restricted to: cinnamon, clove, hyssop, and sage.

Oils which should not be used during pregnancy include, but are not restricted to: basil, clove, cinnamon, fennel, hyssop, juniper, marjoram, myrrh, peppermint, rosemary, sage, and white thyme.

Oils which should not be used for steam facials include, but are not restricted to: bay, clary sage, ginger, juniper, pine, and tea tree.

 Oils which are photosynthesizing include, but are not restricted to: lemon, bergamot, lime, and orange. Do not go out into the sun for at least two hours after applying these oils to your skin.
