Beginning June 14 and subsequent weekends in June & July I'll be running weekend workshops as THE PROJECT moves ahead. We'll be using gravel filled tyres as foundation and EARTHBAGS for the lower courses thence STRAWBALES. The roof is a compression yurt style with an octagonal cupola sitting on top.

I've chosen this hybrid form for a number of reasons. We get to learn about a bit of both materials; portion of the project is below grade; elevating moist earth does not sound like fun; some thermal mass and insulation properties.

There is no charge as I have no knowledge to sell! But plenty of willingness to learn. Should you have some experience and care to share, please, I need you. Or if you are a fellow novice, you are welcome to "learn by doing".

Location is BUNYA, 30 mins NW of Brisbane, 5 mins from Ferny Grove Station. A maximum of 8 each weekend. $10 per day gets you fed and another $10 gets you picked up / dropped off at the station if required.
