To clean old medals

Immerse in lemon juice until the coating of oxide has completley disappeared, 24 hours is generally sufficient, but a longer time is not harmful.

TO CLEAN OLD COINS...Old coins may be cleansed by first immersing them in strong nitric acid and then washing them clean in water. Wipe dry before putting away.

UNSHRINKING WOOLLENS

DISSOLVE APPROX. 85g EPSOM SALTS IN BOILING WATER AND LEAVE TO COOL.

SOAK THE GARMENT IN THE SOLUTION FOR 30 MINUTES, REMOVE, SQUEEZE OUT EXCESS WATER.

LIE FLAT ON A TOWEL AND RESTRETCH THE GARMENT TO ITS CORRECT SIZE AND SHAPE.

ALLOW TO ALMOST DRY AND THEN PRESS UNDER A DRY CLOTH.

Multi-Purpose Surface Cleaner

600 ml white vinegar
300 ml water
20 to 30 drops eucalyptus oil

Put all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake thoroughly. Spray a little onto a soft, damp cloth and wipe down area to be cleaned.
No rinsing required.

Mix baking soda with white glue to fill cracks or dents in drywall and plaster.

Use leftover bits of bar soap to make a liquid soap that’s suitable for dishwashing! This is a great way to stretch your budget and save a bit of money. Chop the soap bits up into very small pieces, or grate it into thin strips first. What you need is very simple:

2 cups of soap shavings
2-3 cups of hot water, plus more to dilute

In a small bucket, place your soap shavings.Cover with hot water and let it sit for several hours or overnight to soften.

In the morning, stir and mash the soap shavings until smooth. Add more hot water to dilute to preferred consistency.Add lemon juice or vinegar if desired, to help with cutting grease on dishes.

Pour into squeeze bottles or other containers. Shake well before use.
