"We only have One Mom, One Mum, One Mommy, One Mother in this World, One life. Don't wait for the Tomorrow's to tell Mom, you love her".

Mother's Day is a day honoring mothers, celebrated on various days in many places around the world.

Sunday May 11, 2008 we celebrate Mother's Day in The United States and Australia.

Mothering Sunday, also called "Mothers Day" in the United Kingdom and Ireland falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent (exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday).
March 2, 2008.

One school of thought claims this day emerged from a custom of Mother worship in ancient Greece, which kept a festival to Cybele, a great Mother of Greek gods. This festival was held around the Vernal Equinox around Asia Minor and eventually in Rome itself from the Ides of March (15 March) to 18 March.

The ancient Romans also had another holiday, Matronalia, that was dedicated to Juno, though Mothers were usually given gifts on this day.

In some countries the Mother's Day began not as a celebration for individual Mothers but rather for Christians.

Miss Anna Jarvis, from West Virginia in the United States came up with the idea of honoring all Mother's on the second Sunday in May.  The first Mother's Day event was held in 1908.  It was a religious service (her Mother had taught Sunday School for 20 years).  As part of the service, each Mother was given a carnation which was her Mother's favorite flower. In 1914, the US President designated the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day.  Within a few years, countries all around the world were celebrating Mother's Day.

Mothers are very special people.  Any day of the year is a great day to tell Mom how much you love her!

Enjoy these fun things to do for and with your Mom this Mother's Day.

Eco Quote

When a man throws an empty cigarette package from an automobile, he is liable to a fine of $50.  When a man throws a billboard across a view, he is richly rewarded.  Pat Brown  quote from David Ogilvy, Ogilvy on Advertising, 1985
