This sweet, sticky substance is made by Honeybees from various types of flower nectar. It is used in cosmetics for its emollient properties as well as for coloring and flavoring. Here are some wonderful recipes for a honey moisturizer, facial mask, facial + body scrub and a nourishing hair treatment.
Please use best-quality organic honey. Honey Facial Moisturizer 2 Tablespoons of honey 2 Teaspoons of Milk. Apply to face and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Honey Scrub for the Body mix 1/2 cup of raw honey with 1/2 cup sugar or salt. Step into the shower (sans water, of course) and scrub mixture into the skin. Then shower off. Honey Scrub for the Face 1 Tablespoon of honey mixed with 2 Tablespoons of finely ground almonds and half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub gently into the skin and rinse with warm water. Honey Face Mask Rejuvenate and replenish your skin. Sweet almond oil, which is light and easily absorbed, softens and nourishes skin. Honey as natural humectant, moisturizes, leaving even tired skin incredibly smooth. 2 Tablespoons Honey 2 Tablespoons Sweet Almond oil 5 drops essential oil of Rose 1 drop Vitamin E oil Mix honey, sweet almond oil and essential oil of rose.
Summertime Honey Mask When the humidity and/or filthy city air is producing breakouts and oily or gritty skin, a honey mask is a great solution! The recipe is as easy as they get! Simply spread a thin layer of honey over your face for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Honey Hair Treatment The temperature extremes can make even the greatest of hair look and feel like straw. This nourishing conditioner blends honey for shine; olive oil for moisture and essential oil of rosemary to stimulate hair growth... 1/2 cup Honey 1/4 cup warmed Olive / Virgin Organic coconut oil (2T for normal to oily hair) 4 drops of essential oil of Rosemary 1 teaspoon Xanthum gum (available in health food stores) Place all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour into a clean bottle with a tight fitting stopper or lid. Apply a small amount at a time to slightly dampened hair. Massage scalp and work mixture through hair until completely coated. Cover hair with a warm towel (towel can be heated in a dryer or microwave) or shower cap; leave on to nourish and condition for 30 minutes. Remove towel or shower cap; shampoo lightly and rinse with cool water. Dry as normal and enjoy shinier, softer and healthier hair the holistic way. Skin Infections Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts to the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.
