An Eco Category has been introduced into the Dulux Colour Awards that are held annually. The Dulux Colour Awards are an opportunity for interior designers and architects to submit their Australian-based projects for recognition of outstanding use in colour.

The good news for consumers is the great range of colours and effects that can be achieved using the interior paint system. (Refer photo supplied by Dulux) So what is a low Volatile Organic Compount Paint (VOC)?
Indoor air is three times more polluted than outdoor air, and according to the EPA, is considered to be one of the top 5 hazards to human health. Paints and finishes are among the leading causes.
Paints and finishes release low level toxic emissions into the air for years after application. The source of these toxins is a variey of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) which, until recently, were essential to the performance of the paint. New environmental regulations, and consumer demand, have led to the development of low-VOC and zero-VOC paints and finishes. Dulux has produced a range of eco paints aptly named Dulux envirO2. This new range is durable, cost-effective and less harmful to human and environmental health.
Submission to the awards are currently still open and will remain so until 28 February 2008.
