Ever wondered if you could make your dream house out of scrap. Well it is possible if you think outside of the box. In this sustainable world, building homes from scrap and junk can be fun and sometimes very cost effective.
Well this great house was spotted by the editor of 'thelohasian' in Lexington MA. Constructed of steel and concrete from Boston's Big Dig, this magnificent home used over 600,000 lbs of salvaged materials.
The trendy home was designed by Single Speed Design, won for the firm, the AIA/BSA Housing Design Award. Standing at over 4300 sq. feet, the awe inspiring structure is a spacious modern example of what is possible in sustainable building. Obviously to construct a home of this quality with scrap, you will need to start with a great design, a generous bank account and from there it can be fun hunting for the materials to create your very own original masterpiece.
