For parents, it is important that we teach respect for the environment as we raise and educate our children.  Be sure that hiking and other outdoors activities are part of your routine, so they learn to appreciate the environment and develop a respect for the world around them. Make sure that you recycle and adopt environmentally responsible practices and teach them to follow your example.

Have you heard of the Eco-Cubby Project?  It is a fantastic initiative of the City of Melbourne and Regional Arts Victoria, that brings children, architects and designers together to develop Eco-Cubby models, whilst learning about sustainable living environments. Eco-Cubby is a workshop program for children that places architects and designers in schools and communities to promote the concept of sustainable design.

 There are an awesome line of ecokids products constructed from environmentally friendly materials. Focusing on sustainability, imagination, creativity, community and play. We are all tired of buying landfill fodder! When products do come to the end of their lives, almost everything is compost-able and will break down and return to Mother Earth.

Modern Playhouse introduces modular, sustainable play structures for kids. Fifty years ago, modular “sing fam” dwelling were outlets for imagination – a blank canvas that inspired the work of our most famous creative minds. Now, that same architectural canvas can inspire a whole new generation of designers, dreamers, artists and innovators – on a smaller scale, and at an early age!
